Who we are
Almajiri Child Rights Initiative (ACRI) is a national organization in Nigeria that has been working around Almajiri and other marginalized and street-connected children since 2015 and officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2018. Our organizational goal is to inspire policy actions to ensure the social protection, education rights, and socioeconomic inclusion of over ten (10) million Almajiri and other street-connected children in Nigeria. ACRI adopts a child rights-centered approach with four (4) thematic areas; public accountability campaign, child protection, livelihood support, and policy advocacy. ACRI has an excellent reputation around civic and policy advocacy, public awareness campaigns, peace building, community engagement, resource mobilization and allocation, and project implementation. ACRI has community-based teams across 15 out of the 36 states in Nigeria and has successfully implemented many intervention projects in partnerships with UNICEF, MacArthur Foundation, Polish Aid, Ford Foundation Street Child UK, Irish Aid, and LEAP Africa.
